The In-Breaking Kingdom
This past week in Sunday School class we talked about God’s “in-breaking” kingdom. God does not leave this world in its fallen state. He is actively working — often through us — to restore His kingdom to this world and ultimately in completion in the New Creation. In an effort to advance our conceptions of kingdom life and non-kingdom life, we used a series of couplets or opposites (life vs. death, order vs. chaos) to describe the dichotomy between “the kingdom of this world” and the “kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ” (Revelation 11:15). When you are experiencing life like what is stated on the right in the red, you are experiencing kingdom life. The left-handed, blue words are indicative of the kind of life God is reversing. The following diagram is a graphic representation of this in-breaking kingdom as we described it. Click on the image for a larger version.
